American magazine Wine & Spirits has included Boutinot Rhȏne 'Les Coteaux Schisteux' Séguret 2009 in its Years Best Rhȏne List.
Part of the 'Fide et Arte' range 'Les Coteaux Schisteux' Ségure, released after 24 months maturation in barrel and demi muid (large 600l barrels), made it onto the list of wines released in 2012. Wine & Spirit also awarded the wine 91 points meaning that it was 'an exceptional example of its type'.
Wine & Spirit make their selection based on a two step screening process - wines submitted to the magazine are assessed by a panel of retailers, sommeliers and winemakers and conducted by W&S staff. The second stage is by the publications own critic who commented:-
Boutinot Rhȏne 'Les Coteaux Schisteux' Séguret 2009
91 points
'From a single, 17-acre parcel of vines over 50 years old - mostly grenache with a few syrah vines mixed in - this is fragrant and spicy. The flavours have substance without weightiness, the fruit chewy without being dry, the acidity keeping it lively'. Regal Wine Imports, Moorestown, NJ
The Wine & Spirits review (February 2013) completes a hat trick of 91 points for'Les Coteaux Schisteux' Séguret 2009 which in recent months has also received praise and 91 points from two other noteable American publications -The Wine Spectator Seguret review (September 30th, 2012) and The Rhȏne Report (Issue 13, October 2012), whose editor Jeb Dunnuck commented that it was 'one of the highest rated Ségurets I was able to taste for this report'.
