Nigel Wilkinson Master Sommelier tours Japan for Boutinot Rhône

NIGEL WILKINSON MS, TOURS JAPAN ON BEHALF OF DOMAINE BOUTINOT RHÔNE to host wine semniars, tastings and customer dinners with wine importers Mottox.
First stop was a sommelier seminar in Tokyo during which Nigel explained the winemaking philosophy of Domaine Boutinot Rhône - working closely with nature in the vineyard and the cellar - and presented four wines from the Fide et Arte range along with the Les Contreforts Ventoux from neighbouring Domaine de Bresquieres.
Taking the sommeliers on a tasting tour of the Southern Rhône, Nigel explained the appellation structure of the region from Côtes du Rhône to Cru using La Fleur Solitaire, Côtes du Rhône (Blanc), Les Coteaux, Côtes du Rhône Villages and named Villages wine Les Coteaux Schisteux, Séguret, Côtes du Rhône Villages as examples.Les Six, Cairanne, Cotes du Rhone Village which will, with the 2015 vintage be released as Les Six, Cairanne AOC.
During the tour three renowned restaurants - Keisuke Matsishima (Tokyo), L'Espirit de Coeur (Osaka) and Yasai French Nord (Osaka) - held wine dinners, matching French cusine to wines from Domaine Boutinot Rhône. Practiced in educating and enthusing people about wine, Nigel who is Boutinot's Fine Dining Account Manager and Company Educator, talked through each of the wines and the principles of matching wine to food.
Despite his busy schedule, we can see from his Twitter feed @WilkinsonMS that Nigel managed to squeeze in a sake tasting before returning home….
