The IWC  judging panel comprises some of the most important people in the wine world including Tim Atkin MW, Oz Clarke, Charles Metcalfe, Sam Harrop MW and Peter McCombie MW who together chair the competition. Wines are tasted blind in two waves of judging.

Currently in its second vintage release, Les Deux Barriques was first released in 2005 when winemaker Eric Monnin realized, while pre-tasting and racking barrels destined for Boutinot Rhȏne's 'La Cȏte Sauvage', Cairanne, Cȏtes du Rhȏne Village 2005, that two barrels stood head and shoulders above their peers. Similarly in 2010 a demi-muid (the equivalent of two barrels) showed similar exceptional potential.

Les Deux Barriques was the only wine to receive a Silver medal, the highest accolade awarded for wines entered from  the up and coming Côtes du Rhône Villages, Cairanne appellation.

Earlier this year 'Les Deux Barriques' 2010 achieved a Silver at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2014.

Now its 5th vintage 'La Fleur Solitaire' Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2013 was also awarded an IWC Silver medal

A cooler vintage, combined with winemaker Eric Monnin's experience of making white wine in the Southern Rhône (an area traditionally known for it's full bodied reds) meant everything came together for the 2013 vintage.

International Wine Challenge judges described the wines as:-

Boutinot Rhône Fide et Arte 'Les Deux Barriques' Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne 2010
"Deep dark plum and garrique aroma with some mint. Ripe black fruit with dried herbs".

Boutinot Rhône Fide et Arte 'La Fleur Solitaire' Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2013
"White peach with honeysuckle and rosewater notes. Jasmine and orange peel on the palate. Minerally finish".
